In no particular order, these are the big things I am going to tackle this year:
- Pay off my consumer debt by year end
- Be happy with my naked self, every day
- Build an online, location independent business by year end
I reserve the right to add additional or sub goals to each of these through out the next 11 months to maintain some flexibility and the ability to expand.
Most of the content posted in this journal will revolve around one or more of these goals. For now, I plan on making a minimum of three posts per week. That number might increase or be larger some weeks, but it will never be less than that.
While I do want to pick a regular posting schedule (days and times), I don't have that nailed down just yet and I think it better to find that through trial and error rather than choosing something arbitrary right off the bat.
I have chosen each of the goals above because they represent not only significant importance but a change to myself as well. Each goal (and btw I think we need a better word than goal, please suggest some in the comments) if met will result in improving me for the following reasons:
- Pay off my consumer debt by year end - I have always had problems budgeting my money. I am not in extreme credit card debt or anything (actual numbers to come), but I do owe money several different places, and I'd really like to be free of the owing monkey on my back.
- Be happy with my naked self, every day - When I was younger, I had what you would call an un-diagnosed eating disorder. For whatever reason, I let body image get to me and that led me to unhealthy dieting and over exercising. This resolution calls me to a more responsible diet and more sustainable exercise.
- Build an online, location independent business by year end - I will not be happy professionally until I work for myself. I want to travel and live in new places. I am good at using the internet. Put those three together and an online business model kinda jumps out at you doesn't it? This goal is the most complex and most challenging - lets see what I'm really made of.
I am sure to fall and fail sometimes through out the year, and I'll cronicle that as well because it's the journey that really counts, but I will not stop learning and improving my methods. After all, the means always justify the end. I believe in the power of process.
